F.A.Q. : Please be advised to look at each Powerman World Series race and attend the Race Briefing

Most rules are the same as the ITU/ National Federation rules for all particpants except one: The Powerman 10m Non-Drafting rule.

We created this rule together with Duathlon topathletes in 1999. This was also the ITU rule for years, till they changed them.

The International Powerman Association sticks to the 10 meters Non Drafting rules because that is what the top Long Distance Duathletes want.

The Athletes and Powerman races together make it possible, in this way, to have a fair race which every finisher can be proud of his/her result.

Powerman races: If you're tough enough ....Be There!

The Powerman races 10m  Non Drafting rule:

How do we enforce this non drafting rule (in practice):

There are two basic rules to manage this rule:

1.Cycle in a ‘single file’.

During the cycling the athletes are supposed to cycle in one line (to the utmost right side of the track) with the prescribed distance between them.

2.No fellow athlete may be hindered.

Hinder is overtaking a fellow athlete and put him/her in a drafting/stayer position. The person who overtakes is responsible for the observation of the rules. When the overtaker is not able to pass, he/she may not cut in but has to go to a distance of at least 10 m of the last cyclist.

In the former rules the responsibility was for the person that was overtaken.

Hinder will be punished by a ‘stop and go’ penalty/ or black box

The person who overtakes has to go at least 3-5 m to the left. This depends on the width of the road

Handling for the race marshals :

Hinder will be punished. It can be by a "stop and go" or time  penalty in the black box.

There are also new National Federation rules in place such as time penalties, penalty run in the TA and all different colours of cards. If an athlete gets a penalty run he or she is responsible to do it without extra warning of a marshal.  Important is that every participant goes to the Race Briefing!!

Practical option what helps people to see what is 10m:

Create along the bike track 10 m zones with cones and lines on the road. At one place with race marshals.

This is not just for us but we do it because the athletes want this. For us the athletes are the ones we have to listen to.

Just do it if you're tough enough!
