CLAIRE MURRAY – PROFESSIONAL TRIATHLETE

Looking for a new challenge following a successful rugby career in both the UK & Hong Kong, I turned to triathlon 5yrs ago.  I had no experience in swimming, cycling or running, but proved nothing is impossible if you are determined enough.  I first represented HK in 2000 and now have 4 Asian Championships and 1 World Championship race under my belt.

I gave up my full-time job with ING Bank in 2003 to set-up my own consulting business, allowing more time to focus on training & racing.  I have been coached by Siri Lindley since July 2003 and regularly train with her group in Boulder and at training camps from California to Australia.

I am currently ranked 106th in the ITU World Ranking, 22nd in the World Powerman Rankings and have been able to establish myself as one of Asia’s top women triathlete’s.  After some success in long course early in my triathlon career including 7th at Ironman Canada in 2001, I am looking to make a return to this distance in 2004 after 2yrs of focusing on the Olympic distance.   “I am really excited to go long again as I feel I have been able to maintain a good base over the last 2yrs, while really improving my speed.”
